Seamless entry to the China markets
Eurex introduced futures on CSI 100 index to provide offshore market participants with the opportunities to gain exposure top firms such as Ping An Insurance, Kweichow Moutai, and Xiaomi. Its structure as a Quanto product, denominated in RMB but settled in USD, simplifies the investment process by eliminating the need for direct currency conversion and reducing foreign exchange (FX) risk. This setup minimizes operational complexity for market participants, allowing them to focus on tapping into China’s leading companies without the added concern of managing currency fluctuations.
Broad-based index, better diversification
The CSI 100 Index Futures provide a more balanced sectoral representation, reducing the overdependence on financials. With its broader composition, it includes a more diverse range of industries such as technology, consumer goods, healthcare, and industrials. This diversity allows investors to gain exposure to a wider segment of China’s economy, helping to mitigate risk and provide more stable returns. The broader base of the CSI 100 translates into better diversification, making it a potentially more attractive option for investors seeking a balanced portfolio with reduced sectoral risk.
Trading and hedging opportunities across time zones
All CSI 100 Index Futures are available for trading and clearing across different time zones. Accessing the product in all time zones helps global and regional investors react more quickly to market movements.
